HEAD START PRESCHOOL TEACHER IN DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION CLASSROOM

Serve as lead teacher in pre-k public school collaboration Head Start classroom.  Provide children with both group and individualized activities to build school readiness, including social-emotional and cognitive growth.  Implement research-based curriculum activities (Creative Curriculum) and instructional tasks in the classroom and coordinate instructional efforts with bilingual teacher assistant.  Conduct authentic assessment to document what children know and can do and use outcomes to guide planning.  Support developmentally appropriate practice and facilitate high-quality instruction through effective teacher-student interactions, extending children's language and focused play activities.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education.  NJ P-3 Certification a plus for future career advancement. Special Education Certification highly desirable. Experience working with preschool children. Creative Curriculum experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal and computer skills. Must pass criminal background and fingerprint checks. Must pass physical with certification of fitness to work with young children. Pediatric CPR & First Aid certified or ability to become so within two months of employment.

Implement research-based curriculum activities and instructional tasks in the classroom and coordinate instructional efforts with teacher assistant. Assist students, individually or in a group, with classroom learning activities to present or reinforce concepts. Conduct assessment to document what children know and can do and use outcomes to guide planning. Support developmentally appropriate practice and facilitate high-quality instruction through effective teacher-student interactions, extending children’s language and focused play activities. Assist in carrying out goals, policies and activities designated to implement the Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, and NJ Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards.

HEAD START FAMILY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST (bilingual)

Social services position working with Head Start families.  Completes intake documents, supports enrollment, monitors attendance, supports family well-being and engagement in program, conducts home visits, conducts monthly parent meetings and connects families with community resources.  Assists in carrying out goals, policies and activities designed to implement the Head Start Program Performance Standards.  Salary & benefits, 10-month school year schedule.  Salary + benefits.  Submit letter of introduction, resume and credentials via e-mail theresaa@headstartmc.org (EOE).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Baccalaureate degree in Sociology, Psychology, or related field; or credential in social work, family services, humans services or counseling or related field.  Must speak, read and write fluent Spanish as well as English.
