HEAD COOK

Full-time, non-exempt position responsible for oversight and preparation of family-style meals for Head Start participants and visitors.  Prepares foods in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served.  Assists Health and Nutrition Coordinator in menu planning. Maintains kitchen supplies equipment in sanitary conditions and maintains accurate inventory of all food and maintenance supplies.  Position at Dover Head Start site; hours of work are generally 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

 

HEAD START TEACHER ASSISTANT

Preschool CDA or AA in ECE required or in progress.  Pre-k experience, knowledge of Creative Curriculum and Head Start Program Performance Standards strongly desirable.  Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills required.  Pediatric CPR & First Aid certified or ability to become so within one month of employment. 10-month position, competitive salary, health, dental and vision benefits.

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Bilingual (English/Spanish) social services position working with Head Start families. Completes intake documents, supports enrollment, monitors attendance, supports family well-being and engagement in program, conducts home visits, connects families with community resources and conducts monthly parent meetings. Assists in carrying out goals, policies and activities designated to implement the Head Start Program Performance Standards. Position serves approximately 10 ½ months (46 weeks) per year with summer hiatus. Must be fluent bilingual communicator in English and Spanish. Degree in Sociology, Psychology, or related field; or credential in social work, family services, human services, counseling or related field required within 18 months of hire; credentialling will be facilitated by Head Start. One position open at the Dover Head Start location. ALL HEAD START EMPLOYEES MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED AGAINST COVID-19. Submit letter of introduction, resume and copy of credentials.

 

EARLY HEAD START PROGRAM AIDE

Infant Toddler and Preschool CDA in progress or obtained within 12 months of employment.  Pre-k experience, Head Start Program Performance Standards strongly desirable.  Bilingual English/Spanish.  Pediatric CPR & First Aid certified or ability to become so within one month of employment. 11-month position, competitive salary, health, dental and vision benefits.

EXTENDED CARE & HEAD START PROGRAM AIDES

Work with teaching team to provide children with safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate care and activities after their regular school day. Experience in an early care and education program caring for young children preferable. Must relate easily and effectively with children and adults. Bilingual English/Spanish skills highly desirable. Pediatric CPR & First Aid certified or ability to become so within one month of employment. Position is part-time, 10 months of year, 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on days when school is in session. Additional shifts and/or optional summer hours may be available in future. Position available August 22, 2022, and includes one week of pre-service training during daytime shift hours.

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

The Human Resources Generalist provides support for management team members in human resources, ensuring compliance with laws and standards for record-keeping, policy, personnel and insurance matters.  The HR Generalist will manage human resources functions around leave requests and insurance, including workers compensation.  Onboarding and background check processes, as well as monitoring staff credentialing, training, and the professional development process, are key functions of the position.  The HR Generalist will maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of job duties, and assist the organization in carrying out goals, policies and activities to implement the Head Start Program Performance Standards. Exempt, salaried position with a family-schedule in a nurturing, caring work environment. Anticipated hours of work are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Tuesdays through Thursdays, with remote work option for Mondays and Fridays.  All Head Start staff members are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university, in Human Resources Administration, Business Administration, Communications, or related field. Human Resources credential or certificate highly desirable, with five or more years' experience in Human Resources administration.  Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to compose and edit professional level correspondence.  Strong computer and data management skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and website management competency. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills desirable. Must pass criminal background and fingerprint checks, and physical exam with certification of fitness to work with young children, including Mantoux test. Valid NJ Driver's License and availability of vehicle.
